Abortion should be the woman’s choice

Abortion is the act of terminating a pregnancy. Today abortion is a controversial issue.

Some believe that it is an act of senseless killing, while others believe it is the woman’s right to do what she pleases with her body.  Those who are “Pro-Life.”

They believe that abortion is murdering a helpless individual. Then, there are those who are “Pro-Choice,” or those who believe that it is the woman’s decision to keep or abort the fetus. I believe that it is no one else’s right, except the woman’s to continue with a full term pregnancy or to terminate it. Who is the government to tell a woman what to do with her unborn child?

There are those who argue “if you don’t want to get pregnant, use protection!” What about those who use protection or other contraceptives and still become pregnant? What about those women who become pregnant as a result of being sexually abused by strangers, friends, or family members? Should they have to bare the pain of knowing their child was conceived against their will?

Everyone has different circumstances, but the decision of whether a woman should conceive should be left up to the person responsible not the government.

Some say “adoption is always an option.” Of course it is, but what about those foster parents that are only adopting children for  money, or  mistreat and abuse the children?

Studies show that 18.8 percent of foster children suffer from physical abuse, 7.9 percent suffer from emotional abuse, and 6.2 percent suffer from sexual abuse.

No child should have to suffer because of someone else’s negligence. The U.S. Declaration of  Independence gives  citizens freedom of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is my life; I am at liberty to do what I please. If abortion is what will make me happy, then so be it.
