Lady Aggies Predicted to Win MEAC

The North Carolina A&T Women’s Basketball team was predicted to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title in the 2015-16 conference. It was a close call with Hampton University, as results were announced on Tuesday.

For the second season in a row, the Aggies will go into the women’s basketball season as the MEAC preseason favorite. N.C. A&T and Hampton were both garnered with 10 first-place votes from sports information directors and head coaches around the league. However N.C. A&T came away with 310 total points over Hampton’s 307.

The Aggies’ 20-win seasons have earned the Aggies a combined record of 66-28 overall and 38-10 in the MEAC under Head Coach Tarrell Robinson.

The road to winning his first regular season and tournament titles for the Aggies will not be an easy one for Robinson. The Hampton Pirates’ five-year run as MEAC champions came to an end last season when Maryland Eastern Shore defeated the Pirates in the 2015 tournament.

Maryland Eastern Shore was picked to finish third this season after getting three first-place votes. In addition to winning the conference, the Aggies placed three players on the preseason all-conference teams.
