“The Green Hornet” made its debut on Jan. 14th being named the top movie for the weekend. Seth Rogen, who was also seen in the movies “Superbad,” “Pineapple Express, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin”, plays “The Green Hornet” character.
Rogen has become popular for his comedic style and dorky look. The movie also stars actors Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Christopher Waltz, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson.
This movie is a remake from the original “Green Hornet” radio program that was created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker in 1936. The program then turned into a movie, television series and a comic book.
The movie begins as Britt Reid (Rogen), the heir to a media empire, doesn’t care about his future and focuses more on partying and having a good time. That changes when his father dies and he becomes in charge of the newspaper created by the family.
After he grows a close friendship with one of his father’s mechanics, Kato (Chou), they decide that they both need to do something more with their lives. They decide to become the modern day “superhero” thus becoming the Green Hornet and his sidekick.
With the help of Reid’s newspaper, they gain exposure, but already portrayed negatively, they figure it would be best to pose as criminals to find criminals. Reid’s secretary, Lenore (Diaz), gives advice to the two heroes not knowing their double life. Reid and Kato hunt down LA’s gang lord Chudnofsky (Waltz), who in return is looking for the boys who are hurting his business.
In the end, it is up to the boys to fight crime and save the integrity of the newspaper.
This movie meets the best of both worlds. Men want to see an action packed movie that has martial arts, weapons, and comedy. Chou’s moves with Rogen’s sense of humor makes the movie worthwhile. It also has a little romance and drama for woman to please their interest.
The Green Hornet meets all the criteria for a perfect action packed movie and will not leave you disappointed. This movie is rated PG-13 and can be seen in 3D and 2D.
