    Aggies Skin the Bison

The North Carolina A&T Aggies (3-0,1-0) defeated the Howard Bison (1-3,0-1) 27-19 at Aggie Stadium on Thursday.

A&T is currently 3-0 for the first time since 2001.

“A win is a win–were 3-0–the bottom line is you play to win the game,” said A&T Head Coach Rod Broadway.

A&T took advantage of a blocked Howard punt early in the first quarter when A&T senior quarterback Lewis Kindle connected with senior tight end Devon Moore on a 5-yard touchdown.

Kindle finished the game 14-for-22 with a touchdown and 140 passing yards.

The Bison would even the score up at 7-7 later in the period when quarterback Greg McGhee threw a 24-yard touchdown to senior tight end David Wilson.

With 5:07 remaining in the first quarter, Lewis Kindle capped a 64-yard drive with an 8-yard scamper for a touchdown giving the Aggies a 13-7 lead.

Howard’s first possession in the second was ended when A&T senior cornerback D’vonte Graham intercepted a Greg McGhee pass.

McGhee finished the game 20 of 45 with 2 touchdowns and an interception.

The Aggies took advantage of the turnover, adding seven points on a 1-yard run by redshirt senior running back Dominique Drake on the following possession.

A&T threw a wrinkle in their offense in the second quarter when junior wide receiver Desmond Lawrence took a reverse handoff 38-yards to the end zone for the touchdown.

“Tonight my mom, my aunts, and my cousins were at the game and I know I had family watching back at home,” said Lawrence.

The Aggies led 27-10 at halftime.

Following an A&T three-and-out, the Bison responded with a 17-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback McGhee to junior wide receiver Stewart Hartman, bringing the score to 16-27 early in the third quarter.

A successful Howard field goal late in the fourth quarter cut the game to a one possession score of 19-27.

After a blocked field goal by senior linebacker D’vonte Grant, the Aggies found themselves ahead with little time remaining.

The Aggies defense held up against the Bison offense during the game’s final possession, sacking quarterback Greg McGhee on the last play of the game to seal the 27-19 victory.

Howard will play North Carolina Central University on Oct. 5 at William H. Greene Stadium at 1 p.m.

The Aggies will travel to Atlanta, Ga. where they will take on the South Carolina State Bulldogs (2-2, 0-0) in the Atlanta Football Classic in the Georgia Dome on Saturday Oct. 5
