GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a woman in Greensboro last month.
Twenty-seven-year-old Brandon Lynch Benders was charged with murder after he recovered from his own injuries.
Police say 28-year-old Anstin Cieria Alston of Greensboro called 911 on Oct. 11 and said Bender had become “combative.” Officers arrived less than two minutes later and found Alston in a stairwell suffering from gunshot wounds. She died at Moses Cone Hospital.
Police said Benders then barricaded himself in the apartment.
Officers forced their way inside after hearing a gunshot. They found Benders with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He’s now being held in the Guilford County jail. It was not clear if he has a lawyer
