Legends of the Blacktop isn’t just a title, it’s a frame of mind. The game: streetball, the court: a battlefield, your purpose: respect. Some may call it the hottest game of the year that featured more crossovers than a Nelly album.
The Student Government Association presented “The Killer Crossover Tour” featuring the handles of Hitman “Hot Sauce” and MTV “Who’s Got Game” winner, “White Chocolate” and the webmaster they call “Spyda Man” against the N.C. A&T’s “Aggie All Stars.”
The Aggie All Stars let the streetballers know what time it was within the first half. With less than six minutes in the game, Aggie All Star C.K., left his sneaker print on the shoulders of the 400 pound street baller Escalade in the first half.
According to the judges, if any player was dunked on at any time within the game, they were to be dismissed from the court. Excuse me, instead of the court he should have been escorted out of the building.
Streetballer Escalade seemed to be a good sport about getting dunked on in the first quarter.
“It’s just part of the show, I have dunked on a 100 brothers and I just got dunked on,” said Escalade.
The Aggie All Stars shocked everyone by keeping the score pretty close throughout the entire game. Unfortunately, with less than 25 seconds in the game, the Aggie All stars accepted defeat with a score of 158 to 137.
The Legends of the Blacktop seemed to show a lot of love with the fans by signing autographs, taking pictures and performing tricks for the crowd after the game.
“The Helicopter,” originally from Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, and a former player of Oak Hill Academy represented for the Legends and his home state. He stayed swinging from the tips of the rim. His favorite moment of the game: watching Spyda Man climb all over an Aggie All Star and send him out of the gym.
Arachnophobia was the only fear players were experiencing when Legends of the Blacktop player “Spyda Man,” “shook” up the competition. “I came in the game tired, but I played because love the intensity of the crowd,” Spyda Man said.
Spyda Man’s most memorable moment on tour, cross dressing. “I dressed up as a girl on tour and they showed it on TV,” said Spyda. “I think it was Indianapolis when they put me in girl clothes.”
My question, was this a bet? Spyda Man replied, “Naw, cuz I had woke the team up at 6 o’clock in the morning and they had got mad at me.”
What would chicken be without a little bit of Texas Pete? Dry.
The Texas Pete assassin a.k.a. Hot Sauce Sometimes a game be on, sometimes a game be off. Like tonight, me game was mediocre it was in the middle. But we got the whole package, we got the whole package, it ain’t just me , it’s other players out there that can do their thing. We all out there to have fun and now it’s party time baby.”
