The Myrtle Beach area has long been one of the best vacation destinations in the United States, and it remains that today. Located on South Carolina’s beautiful “Grand Strand,” Myrtle Beach is the center of an area that offers plenty of entertainment for lucky visitors.
Travelers come from all around the country to experience all that the coast has to offer. From miles of publicly accessible beaches to some of the finest restaurants in the world, Myrtle Beach can offer a full vacation. When excellent entertainment options and world-class shopping are thrown into the mix, the area cements its place among the country’s best vacation spots.
Those travelers coming to the Myrtle Beach area, including North Myrtle Beach, will undoubtedly focus on the beach itself. The area is known for its wide, beautiful beaches, warm water and soft sand. From the Dunes Club residential area in the north down to Garden City in the south, the area has plenty to offer.
It is worth noting that the beaches are surrounded by public access points and public parking, meaning visitors won’t have to struggle to find the sand. The area’s beaches offer something for everyone, whether it’s pier fishing in Surfside or beach volleyball. With large expanses of sand, travelers can find a place for some peace and quiet if that’s what they’re looking for. The area features relatively hot springs, winters, and falls, so travelers can legitimately experience the beach during three of the four seasons. Surfing is an option at some junctures, and surf fishing is a popular pastime in the early mornings and late evenings.
Those who enjoy casual and fine dining appreciate the area’s excellent dining options. Lovers of great seafood will want to explore the award-winning Sea Captain’s House. Additional casual dining establishments are located just to the south of Myrtle Beach in restaurant row in Murrell’s Inlet, where food options abound in settings overlooking the beautiful marsh area. Local favorites include Captain Dave’s Dockside, the Hot Fish Club and Lee’s Inlet Kitchen.
For those whose tastes lie in more formal cuisine, Greg Norman’s Australian Grille in Barefoot Landing, Amici’s at Broadway on the Beach, and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse near Grande Dunes and the Grande Shores Resort are sure to please. In North Myrtle Beach, be sure to try the chef’s favorite dishes at 3500 Ocean Grill at Prince Resort. With hundreds of restaurants up and down the coast, there is something for everyone. Those individuals who enjoy a quaint, local, small breakfast spot will want to check out Hoskins on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. It is a place characteristic of the Myrtle Beach area, as it offers unbeatable food coupled with southern hospitality.
When you aren’t on the beach or eating a great meal, stay entertained with world-class shopping and a host of shows, large and small, many of which include dining. Market Common and Broadway at the Beach are great spots for shopping, as is Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach. For the kids, there are more than 100 miniature golf courses in the area, as well as great theme parks.
One reason why Myrtle Beach remains a great vacation destination has to do with the large number of accommodation options. Some people like to rent one of the area’s great homes for the week. With a dozen realty companies in the area, this is incredibly easy. For folks who would like the conveniences of a resort, the area also has a number of those. Some people choose to stay in North Myrtle at Avista Resort or Seaside Myrtle Beach or at the north end at Cherry Grove’s newest property Towers at North Myrtle Beach or the south end in Litchfield or Pawleys Island. Others choose to stay at one of the many resorts right on Ocean Boulevard. Between the condos, hotels, and hundreds of available vacation homes, there are plenty of choices to suit almost any need and every taste.
Visitors who make the choice to come to the Grand Strand discover their own brand of fun and adventure by the ocean.
