Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. highlighted the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s organizational fair on Thursday with his acceptance of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Chancellor Martin was nominated by Steven Leath, president of Iowa State University. President Leath is a friend and colleague of Chancellor Martin. After the challenge Chancellor Martin said “Steven Leath and I worked together in the UNC General Administration Office and when I left there for N.C. A&T he also left for Iowa State. We are very good friends.” “One of the reasons I accepted the challenge is because it is a disease that is affecting many people around the world, especially the United States. I also know someone who is impacted by the disease. The former chair of our trustees, Dr. Velma Buford’s husband is battling ALS,” said Chancellor Martin. He stated that he received the challenge last Thursday and decided to do it at the organizational fair to raise more awareness about ALS. Chancellor Martin also challenged the Chancellor of N.C. Central University, Chancellor David Belcher of Western Carolina University and Aggie Dining to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
