This Saturday, the North Carolina A&T Aggies (1-1) will host
the Costal Carolina Chanticleers of Conway, South Carolina. Costal
Carolina is a member of the Big South Conference and finished the
2010 season with an overall record of 6-6, finishing third in the
Big South with a conference record of 5-1. Â

2010 Big South coach of the year, David Bennett, has compiled a
record of 56-35 in his ten years at Costal Carolina and a career
coaching record of 119-55. Bennett is currently the all-time
winningest coach in Big South history.

The Chanticleers most recent game resulted in an embarrassing, 59-0
loss to the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Lead by Junior
quarterback Aramis Hillary, the Chanticleers have displayed an
efficient offensive game against Football Championship Subdivision
(FCS) opponent Furman Paladins and the NCAA Division II Catawba
Indians. Â

The Chanticleers operate with an aggressive run and gun
philosophy. In the two games Costal Carolina won, they displayed
versatility with their running and passing game. The Furman
Paladins allowed the Chanticleers to rush for 231 yards in their
week one loss. The Chanticleers gained 295 passing yards against
the Catawba Indians, who held Costal Carolina to a terrible .4 yard
per rush average. The Aggies must play effective pass and run
defense to get a win this week. The key to stopping the
Chanticleers will be to get heavy pressure on Costal quarterback
Hillary. If the Aggies allow Hillary and the Chanticleer passing
offense to get into rhythm, the score could get ugly quickly. Â

The Chanticleers defense has held firmly against previous
opponents, but has not defended the pass well. In three games, the
Costal defense has not intercepted any passes and have only four
sacks in three games. Pre-season All-American and 2010 All-Big
South defensive back Josh Norman will look to nullify the crafty
Wallace Miles’ role as a big play wide receiver. Linebacker and
2010 Big South defensive player of the year, Andrae Jacobs, has
been known to flatten defiant running backs and flimsy receivers
who dare cross his path. A&T running back Mike Mayhew may have
some success on the ground, but the Aggies’ success will be
determined by the level at which sophomore quarterback Lewis Kindle
performs.

The Aggies will attempt to bounce back after a week two 58-6 loss
to the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Ball control and turnovers
will be key if the Aggies expect to win against the Chanticleers.
The Aggies are approaching the game as an opportunity to make a
statement and silence critics.  A&T players have a winning
mentality and an eagerness to prove themselves worthy. Tune
in.
