Don’t let motion sickness ruin your vacation

There are four words no parent or sibling wants to hear on a road trip? “Mom, I feel sick.”

Unfortunately, due to the very nature of road travel, which is filled with a lot stopping and starting and winding roads, there is a very real possibility that a lot of people will be hearing those words this summer. But there are things you can do to prevent travel sickness from ruining your vacation.

Here’s some great advice from Travelmom.com, a website filled with practical information for moms on-the-go:

    1. Before hitting the road, equip everyone in the family with a Psi Band. These work by applying pressure to pressure points that relieve nausea and can prevent motion sickness altogether.

    2. Pack some Queasy Pops. The moment someone in the car says they are not feeling well, hand them one of these lollipops, made from a special formulation of essential oils from natural herbs and aromatherapy. They were developed by health care professionals to provide relief from the queasy stomach associated with motion sickness and chemotherapy. More information can be found at www.threelollies.com.

    3. Bring along some Dramamine. It is available in both liquid and chewable tablet form, and is most effective when taken before you get on the road.

Fortunately, motion sickness is something you can prevent, but there are other road hazards you need to be aware of that may be unavoidable. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, summer is one of the most dangerous times of year on the road. Among the many reasons why: more people sharing the roads at the same time, and the growing tendency toward distracted driving.

Because of all the dangers facing drivers these days, it’s important to make sure you have adequate car insurance before heading out of town. Car insurance quotes are easy to obtain online these days. Many companies offer instant quotes, outlining their auto insurance rates.
