MJ: What made you come to A&T?
CC: It is common to go to school abroad in the U.S, U.K or Canada. I do not like the cold so the U.K. and Canada was out of the question. I went on a college tour of HBCU’s and I liked A&T the best.
MJ: How did you begin playing tennis?
CC: I began at the age of ten and I hated it. My father were my coach and he paid me to play. I received 10 cents every time I hit the ball over the net. I then entered my first tournament and won and that motivated me to play.
MJ: What are your future goals in life?
CC: I plan to obtain my masters in accounting, receive my CPA (Certified Public Accounting), and work for a public auditing accounting firm. I was offered a job at PricewaterhouseCoopers already.
MJ: Who is your Idol/ Motivation?
CC: My parents, they have been there for me through everything, and they have my best interest at heart.
MJ: How is life as a student athlete? What has it taught you?
CC: It is very hectic, your schedule keeps you extremely busy; it taught me how to be independent, organized and it encourages you to keep pushing forward when you feel like giving up. It is hard maintaining a 3.0
MJ: What do you like to do for fun?
CC: I love to travel. I like to read, and I currently volunteer at Glenwood Ministries where I teach K-2nd grade how to read and do math.
MJ: If you can be any animal what would you be and why?
CC: I would definitely be a lion because I am strong and aggressive.
MJ: What are your plans for Valentines Day?
CC: I got a couple of offers, but I think I am going to pass and cook myself some dinner and watch my favorite movie “The Parent Trap.”
MJ: Describe yourself in three words.
CC: Confident, Spontaneous and Persistent.
MJ: What is your biggest fear?
CC: At the moment it is losing someone close to me back at home, because I am all the way up here and I don’t really have anyone.
MJ: What is your greatest accomplishment?
CC: It hasn’t happened yet, but I am the first of my immediate family to attend college.
MJ:Who is your favorite tennis player?
CC: Serena Williams, in the tennis world she is my role model. I love her aggressiveness, passion for the sport and her ability to work under pressure. She is unpredictable.
MJ: What is something most people don’t know about you?
CC: Most people don’t know that I am black; most people think I am mixed and speak three different languages but I am completely black.
