The Aggies head into their most celebrated game of the season on a two-game winning streak.
They are now tied for second place in the MEAC. Florida A&M is 2-5 overall, and are also coming into the game on a 2-game winning streak.
The Aggies have only won the last 3 out of 10 games against Florida A&M.
Florida A&M’s Head Coach, Earl Holmes, is entering his second full season.
He is 6-15 as a head coach after spending 10 seasons in the NFL.
After last weekend’s win against Delaware State, Head Coach Broadway said, “We have a lot of things that need to be cleaned up before this week, because when I see Florida A&M I see a really good football team. So we got to be better than last week and we definitely can’t turn the ball over like we did last week or I don’t think we can beat these boys if we have 5 turnovers like last week. So there are some things we got to clear up and we got to get better.”
In Quick’s place, freshman quarterback Hasaan Klugh has thrown for 390 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 42-for-68 passing.
Klugh has been helping running back, Tarik Cohen as he is 89 yards shy of his second straight 1,000-yard season.
If he reaches the 1,000 mark, he will become the first Aggie in school history to put together 1,000-yard seasons as a freshman and sophomore.
The Aggies defense has also improved. Kicker Cody Jones has connected on four field goals and has made his last seven field goals.
The Aggies special teams also scored a touchdown thanks to a blocked punt by D’Vonte Grant and a recovery in the end zone by Jerome Beatty. N.C. A&T’s defense scored for the second time thanks to a 55-yard interception by Angelo Keyes.
“We’re looking forward to homecoming and hopefully playing better than we have this year,” said Broadway.
N.C. A&T has won the last three homecomings under Head Coach Rod Broadway. The Aggies have won those games by an average of 28.7 points.
“The joy for us is winning the football game, that’s what we get our joy from. All this other stuff is for all the other people, and they can go to the step show and do all those things but hopefully our guys get their joy on Saturday night,” said Broadway.
After this weekend’s homecoming game, the Aggies will have a bye week.
A win from the Aggies will guarantee the program’s third straight winning season. N.C. A&T has not had three straight winning seasons since 1999-01.
