Earlier this month, the Grammy-nominated rapper Gunna released his third studio album, “Drip Season 4Ever.”
The project consists of 20 songs with features from fellow Atlanta rappers 21 Savage, Future, Young Thug and Lil Baby along with features from Chlöe, G Herbo and Chris Brown.
The fourth installment of the Drip Season mixtape series topped the US Billboard 200 chart selling 150,300 album-equivalent units and blocking singer The Weeknd’s album “Dawn FM” which charted at number two, according to Billboard Music.
The album is Gunna’s second chart-topping debut, following his 2020 album, “Wunna.”
“I’m honestly not a huge Gunna fan but I really enjoyed the album,” junior kinesiology student Alexsys Anthony said. “The artists that he had for features were a nice touch. I feel like ‘you & me’ has a different vibe. It has a nice mellow tune that I enjoyed hearing.”
The song “P power” was not originally on the album, but has had increasing popularity across social media platforms. The song features Grammy-award-winning rapper Drake and had fans in a frenzy when the tracklist was released.
The song originally sampled Donna Summer’s song “Could It Be Magic,” but unfortunately, the sample was not cleared by Summer’s estate resulting in the song being released on the album a week later with production from Atlanta producer Metro Boomin.
The lead single “too easy” featuring Future was released on Sept. 24, 2021. Subsequently, a remix for the song featuring rapper Roddy Ricch was released on Dec. 3, 2021, and peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Gunna revealed via Twitter on New Years Day the release date for the album, and a few days later, he revealed the cover art created by American architect Daniel Arsham and the full tracklist.
“I love Gunna’s album,” junior psychology student Kimyatta Bennett said. “His flow and rhythm alone make him a good vocalist and even better lyricist.”

Prior to the release of the album, Gunna released a series of tweets with examples of what is “P” and what is not “P” in association with the second track on the album “Pushin P” featuring Future and Young Thug.
“I actually saw a TikTok about the meaning before I heard the song and saw when Gunna explained it,” Anthony said. “If something is going in your favor, that’s ‘Pushin P,’ if it doesn’t that ain’t P.”
In an interview with the New York City-based radio station The Breakfast Club, when asked what exactly does “P” mean, Gunna stated, “It’s simply player.”

The phrase has taken to social media and while many are still confused about the true meaning, many students fully understand what Gunna means by the statement.
While the phrase comes from the Bay Area and Texas, Gunna has now popularized it and created a trend with the blue “P” emoji.
“Pushin P, means to keep it playa. or keep it real. If someone were to say that’s not P of you, that means you did something shiesty or green,” Bennett said.
Gunna will be performing the hits from his new album during DirectTV and Maxim’s Super Bowl LVI party in Los Angeles. The album is available on all streaming platforms.
