Pitch Perfect hits average notes

Although containing a hilarious cast full of female up and comers combined with the new favored sound of acapella singing, Pitch Perfect makes for an average time at the movies.

The movie stars Anna Kendrick, from the “Twilight Series,” who plays Beca and funny star Rebel Wilon who starred in the popular comedy “Bridesmaids.”

Beca (Kendrick) is a feisty freshman college student ready to rebel the pressure of her parents to attend college. She would rather listen and make music than attending classes or going out. With one final push by her parents before letting her leave college and pursue her dreams as a music producer in California, Beca is forced to join a campus club.

The Barden Bellas, an all girl acapella singing group, become Beca’s new home. Beca, along with other girls with interesting personalities, goes through up’s and down’s to compete in the national championship.

This is your typical teen movie. With an all too predictable ending, the moments that make the movie shine are its funny lines and cool music. Without funny girl Rebel Wilson there to keep you laughing from beginning to end, the movie would be a waste of time.

With “Glee” music making a comeback from shows like NBC’s “The Sing Off”, the movie’s soundtrack will be one to get. The combination of old and new songs sung completely by voice is pleasing to hear with whatever genre of music you listen to.

For fans of “Glee” and girl centered drama found in “Easy A” and “Bring It On”, this is the movie for you. If you want your money’s worth, don’t even bother.

Rated: C+
