RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Third-party groups are running new television ads in the North Carolina governor’s race that seek to question Democrat Walter Dalton on taxes and Republican Pat McCrory on his work history.
North Carolina Citizens for Progress and the Republican Governors Association confirmed they rolled out separate television commercials Tuesday.
N.C. Citizens for Progress says its ad is running in every television market except Charlotte. It alleges McCrory hasn’t come clean with the public by refusing to release his tax returns and failing to give more details about his work at a Charlotte law firm.
The Republican Governors Association labels its ad a “major statewide buy” that sticks to its earlier commercials by attempting to link Dalton to outgoing Gov. Beverly Perdue by accusing them both of supporting higher taxes.
