Spider-Man’s starting fresh. The “Brand New Day” trailer just dropped, and it’s clear Peter Parker’s world is about to change in some pretty big ways.
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is back, and this time the neighborhood looks a whole lot different.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” swings into theaters July 31, 2026, and if the record-breaking trailer views, 718 million in just 24 hours, are anything to go by, this might just be Marvel’s biggest release since Avengers: Endgame.
The “Brand New Day” trailer finds Peter Parker facing life after “No Way Home,” living alone in a city that’s forgotten him.
Now a full-time Spider-Man, he faces isolation, grief, and a strange evolution overtaking him, as the trailer hints at a powerful new enemy beginning to surface.
The trailer shows a different side of Peter Parker who many like James Love Jr., a graduate physics student, agree is a more accurate representation of the character from the comics.
“I’m excited for the new movie. It’s a rendition of Spider-Man in the comics. He’s broke, depressed, no one remembers who he is, and he’s mutating. So, I’m really excited because it’ll show just how powerful he is and how good Tom Holland is as an actor,” he said.
The upcoming film features a stacked line-up of villains, blending familiar faces with new threats to Spider-Man’s world.
Confirmed appearances include Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Marvin Jones as Tombstone, and Frederick Myers as Boomerang, each bringing their own chaos to Parker’s redefined world.
Jorge Lara, junior industrial and systems engineer, expressed his thoughts when asked which returning or rumored character he was most excited to see.
“I’m excited to see what they do with Ned since they showed he was a sorcerer in the last movie,” he said. “As for rumored characters, I think Daredevil will be cool to see in the MCU. They showed him in an earlier movie, and the Punisher has been on his show several times, which (connects with his appearance) in the trailer.”

The movie will also feature The Hand and Tarantula, though the actors behind those roles remain a mystery.
Since the premiere of the trailer, casting rumors are fueling even more hype around the movie.
“Stranger Things,” Sadie Sink is rumored to possibly play Jean Grey or even Mayday Parker.
“The Bears,” Liza Colón-Zayas is said to play a character named “Cathy,” rumored to be connected to the Punisher, while Jamaal Burcher and Tramell Tillman have undisclosed roles.
Henry King, a junior journalism and mass communication student, offered his perspective.
“The trailer seems to position this story as a bridge between grounded struggles of Spider-Man and bigger cosmic stakes. The involvement of characters like the Punisher and Bruce Banner hints at crossover elements connecting street-level and scientific storylines,” he said.
Tillman, known for his role in “Severance,” is speculated to portray William Metzger, an anti-mutant extremist, which hints at a link between Spiderman and the X-Men universe.
Mark Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, connecting a piece of Parker’s past with his current path.
King continued to say, “There are also hints to mutation and possible X-Men-related ideas, suggesting the MCU (may be) expanding beyond multiverse travel into new types of superhuman evolution. Since this film (releases) just before major Avengers-level events, Peter’s changes could play into those larger conflicts.”
“Brand New Day” marks the next chapter in Peter Parker’s journey, continuing his journey for both longtime fans and a new generation of viewers to enjoy.
