Another One Bites The Dust

The N.C. A&T Aggies stayed on top of things this weekend by defeating the Delaware State University Hornets on its own turf.

DSU has been on a losing streak all season; overall and in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

The Aggies started the game with a kickoff to the receiving Hornets. Delaware’s possession did not last long against the N.C. A&T defense. After a bit of a back and forth between control of the ball, the Hornets kicked a 38 yard field goal to have the upper hand with a 3-0 lead.

N.C. A&T’s offense did not let DSU hold the lead for long when a touchdown pass to Malik Wilson (Redshirt Sr.) gave them the edge with a 7-3 lead.

During the second quarter, Lamar Raynard (Redshirt Sr.) ran for a 10 yard touchdown to stretch the score, 14-3.

The A&T defense continued to keep DSU from scoring and the Aggies gained possession again. With a pass completion to Malik Wilson and a run of 54 yards, giving N.C. A&T a lead of, 20-3.

The Hornets put a stop to the Aggies’ offense to get theirs back on the field, but N.C. A&T’s defense was not going to let them slide. Delaware State was only able to gain three more points by kicking a 49 yard field goal to end the half.

At the start of the third quarter, N.C. A&T had possession and quarterback, Lamar Raynard, ran for another Aggie touchdown.

With an unbreakable N.C. A&T defense, the Hornets were unable to score.

However, Delaware State’s defense was lacking the energy that the Aggie defense had.

With a few short runs here and there, it was a four yard pass completion to Zachary Leslie (Redshirt So.) that gave the Aggies another touchdown.

With control of the game switching between the teams and stingy defenses, the game concluded with another win for the North Carolina A&T Aggies, 34-6.

The Aggies will be back at BB&T Stadium on Saturday, October 13th, to face off against the Florida A&M University Rattlers.

“I know the game will be close, but we will win,” said by Hynia Morris, junior, biology student.

The FAMU Rattlers are undefeated in the MEAC this year and currently hold the top spot in the conference.

“Aggies Win: 20-17,” said by Taylor Bullock, junior, biology student on her score prediction.
