The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers battled it out in an intense World Series that went all the way to a thrilling game 7 resulting in a Astros victory. This World Series championship is the first ever for the Astros franchise.
The Astros started off game 7 strong, scoring five runs in the first two innings. The Dodgers answered later on in the fifth inning with a solo home run. However unfortunately for the Dodgers, those would be the only points they would score. The Astros closed out the game in the ninth inning after using their starters in relief.
This was a series that was seemingly defined by relief pitching, and home runs especially in Game 7. Neither team’s starting pitcher made it out of the third inning, both teams combining for a total of eight relief pitchers.
George Springer, center fielder for the Astros hit his fifth home run in his fourth consecutive game- tying a World Series record set by Reggie Jackson (1977), and tied by Chase Utley (2009).
While the Dodgers had a disappointing end to a fantastic season, they are already favorites to make it back to the 2018 World Series.
This win meant everything for the city of Houston, a city still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The mayor of Houston, declared Friday  November 3rd, 2017 as the Houston Astros day.
The World Series Champions will have a parade on Friday, November 3rd to celebrate their win with the city of Houston at 2 p.m. CT (3 p.m. ET)
